A leading organisation is seeking a Senior Advisor Operational Safety to provide specialist guidance and influence, driving operational safety performance and system maturity across the business. This pivotal role sits at the advanced level of AO6, offering you the opportunity to lead complex initiatives, shape best practice, and collaborate with senior stakeholders—all without formal managerial responsibility. You will be empowered to translate strategy into practical solutions, mentor others, and build trusted relationships throughout the organisation. If you are passionate about uplifting operational safety standards and thrive in environments where your expertise is valued, this position offers flexible working opportunities, access to ongoing training, and a supportive network that encourages professional growth. * You will play a key part in strengthening operational safety performance by providing high-level advice and leading impactful initiatives that directly influence organisational outcomes. * Enjoy flexible working arrangements and continuous training opportunities designed to support your development and ensure you remain knowledgeable in the latest safety practices. * Work within a collaborative environment where your interpersonal skills and ability to influence without authority are highly valued, allowing you to make meaningful contributions across teams.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Advisor Operational Safety, you will be at the forefront of shaping operational safety practices within a large-scale organisation. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve leading high-impact initiatives that require both strategic insight and technical expertise. You will analyse performance data to uncover trends and risks while supporting the development of robust frameworks that underpin safe operations. By preparing detailed reports for senior leaders, you will help drive informed decisions that align with organisational values. Building strong relationships with colleagues across departments is essential; your ability to influence outcomes through collaboration rather than authority will set you apart. Additionally, you will coordinate project teams to deliver successful outcomes on time while mentoring peers to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Success in this role hinges on your capacity for professional judgement, ethical decision-making, and commitment to uplifting operational safety standards.

  • Lead complex operational safety initiatives that have significant impact or risk, ensuring strategies are translated into practical solutions for field operations.
  • Provide authoritative advice on operational safety risks, controls, systems, and assurance activities to guide decision-making at all levels of the business.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of operational safety capability by focusing on critical risk management and control effectiveness.
  • Analyse operational safety performance data to identify systemic issues, emerging risks, and areas for improvement within the organisation.
  • Support the design, refinement, and application of operational safety frameworks, procedures, and assurance processes to maintain high standards.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefings, reports, and recommendations for senior leaders that inform strategic direction and operational decisions.
  • Build and sustain trusted relationships with operational leaders, safety professionals, and frontline teams through expert advice and collaboration.
  • Influence outcomes by managing competing priorities and perspectives in cross-functional forums, projects, and reviews without relying on positional authority.
  • Lead defined projects and work programs from planning through delivery to evaluation, coordinating contributions from multiple stakeholders to achieve quality results.
  • Mentor and coach other advisors to enhance operational safety capability and consistency across the business.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for Senior Advisor Operational Safety brings a wealth of experience in analysing complex data sets related to workplace safety. High emotional intelligence enables you to navigate challenging situations calmly while maintaining focus on ethical standards. Your background includes mentoring others in best practice approaches which supports communal learning within the team. You are adept at managing multiple priorities simultaneously within cross-functional projects while remaining dependable under pressure.
