F - Solution Architect - Applications

A leading government department is seeking a Solution Architect to join their Information and Technologies Branch in Brisbane, supporting a major IT Application Refresh Program. This is an exceptional opportunity for you to play a pivotal role in the replacement and enhancement of existing technologies and frameworks across multiple applications, with a strong focus on reusing architectural patterns and establishing new ones aligned to enterprise roadmaps.

Location: Brisbane CBD
Contract: 12 months +12 months of Extensions
Daily Rate: Competitive, DOE

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Conduct comprehensive reviews and document recommendations for solution architecture enhancements across a diverse range of technology platforms and applications.
• Evaluate and recommend strategies for reducing technical debt while facilitating transitions between private and public cloud environments, systems, and modules.
• Lead the assessment and documentation process for migrating legacy systems to modern cloud-based solutions, ensuring alignment with enterprise architectural standards.
• Participate actively in all phases of the solution architecture development lifecycle, from initial design through migration and enhancement of key initiatives.
• Ensure adherence to corporate, industry, national, and international standards for enterprise and solution architectures throughout project delivery.
• Establish clear assessment criteria for selecting systems architecture components and coordinate design activities to promote consistency across projects.
• Develop detailed roadmaps and architectural patterns for both new and existing solutions that support efficient reuse and align with strategic plans.
• Provide expert consultancy by understanding client requirements, collecting data, delivering analysis, resolving problems collaboratively with stakeholders.
• Monitor emerging technologies relevant to solution architecture and contribute insights to briefings for staff and management regarding their potential value.

What you bring:

• At least five years’ recent experience in Solution Architecture involving design and implementation of on-premises, cloud or hybrid solutions—preferably using Microsoft technology stacks for large-scale integrated environments.
• Solid experience with TOGAF (The Open Group Architecture Framework), ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), Development Frameworks, Release Management processes, Change Control methods including operational transformation.
• Proven track record in developing both logical and physical architectures as well as implementing stable solutions tailored for high performance requirements.
• Expertise in producing strategic roadmaps and reusable architectural patterns that support efficient deployment of new or upgraded systems.
• Ability to successfully deliver multiple concurrent key initiatives while maintaining high standards of quality and integrity.
• Exceptional relationship-building skills combined with advanced communication abilities for effective negotiation across internal teams and external partners.
• Experience leading the development of architectures for complex systems ensuring requirements are met collaboratively with business teams as well as technical groups.
• Ability to provide expert advice on technical specialisms related to information or communication technology domains.
