Solution Architect
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Cloud Solution Architect to join a central government business unit in Brisbane on a temporary three-month contract, with the possibility of extension. This role offers a unique chance to shape the future of procurement analytics and AI within the public sector, directly supporting strategic decision-making that impacts communities across Queensland.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Conduct an independent review of the current Azure architecture to assess its capabilities and ensure alignment with strategic objectives focused on better data-driven decisions.
- Develop comprehensive solution architecture artefacts, including conceptual and logical designs as well as data integration models, to enable delivery of key analytics and AI initiatives.
- Engage proactively with stakeholders across procurement policy, insights, digital teams, and external platform providers to gather requirements, validate findings, and maintain alignment throughout the project lifecycle.
- Produce clear technical documentation and deliver at least one knowledge transfer session to internal staff and platform partners to ensure continuity and capability uplift.
- Ensure all technical solutions adhere strictly to relevant government enterprise architecture strategies, roadmaps, principles, and standards for security, governance, and interoperability.
- Interpret business reviews, technical documentation (including as-built records), user stories, and requirements provided by business analysts to inform architectural decisions.
- Create detailed architectural diagrams, pictorials, workshop materials, and presentations that communicate complex concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Apply deep understanding of Microsoft Azure Data products—including Fabric, Data Factory, SQL Server—and core Azure services such as Entra ID, IAM controls, Active Directory, networking, storage accounts.
- Utilise scripting languages and automation tools to streamline processes within the cloud environment while ensuring robust logging/alerting mechanisms are in place for secure access management.
- Champion best practices in private networking, security protocols, access governance, and compliance with organisational policies throughout all stages of solution development.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience performing in an architect or solution consultant capacity within large-scale cloud environments—preferably involving public sector or enterprise settings.
- Proven ability to interpret business reviews alongside technical documentation such as as-built records and outputs from business analysts including user stories and requirements gathering documents.
- Expertise in producing architectural diagrams, pictorials, workshop content, and presentations tailored for varied audiences across technical proficiency levels.
- In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Azure Data products (such as Fabric, Data Factory, SQL Server) coupled with familiarity in core Azure services like Entra ID (formerly Azure AD), IAM controls, Active Directory integration, networking configurations, storage account management.
- Hands-on experience utilising scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell or Python) for automation authoring within cloud platforms; adept at implementing logging/alerting frameworks for operational resilience.
- Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Azure AI services including AI Foundry and Machine Learning Studio; able to integrate these tools into broader data analytics strategies securely.
- Thorough grasp of security best practices related to private networking setups within cloud environments; skilled at designing solutions that meet stringent access control and governance requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling effective stakeholder engagement—able to gather requirements collaboratively while validating findings through open communication channels.
- A track record of delivering clear technical documentation alongside facilitating knowledge transfer sessions that build internal capability among peers or partner organisations.
