This is an exceptional opportunity for you to join a forward-thinking government agency as a Business Intelligence Analyst, where your expertise in data analytics and reporting will directly contribute to shaping strategic decisions and driving positive outcomes for Queensland’s future.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain non-financial performance reports using advanced business intelligence software such as Power BI, ensuring accuracy and relevance for stakeholders.
  • Support the delivery of projects aimed at improving business intelligence tools and processes by recommending effective solutions that enhance decision-making capabilities.
  • Extract, transform, and analyse complex datasets utilising Excel (including advanced functions, pivot tables, formulas) and demonstrate proficiency in SQL where beneficial.
  • Undertake detailed data analysis within the organisation’s Microsoft Azure-based architecture, applying experience with Azure Synapse analytics to optimise reporting outcomes.
  • Assist the Strategy & Performance team with ad hoc data tasks while proactively working towards automating these requests for greater efficiency.
  • Contribute to the implementation of AI productivity tools and Large Language Models within the business context to drive innovation in reporting practices.
  • Coordinate data subscription assets and manage protocols for secure data handling and compliance with organisational standards.
  • Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation related to all processes performed, including technical documentation on report builds and user guides for end users.
  • Regularly review methods and formats for presenting data insights and trends to ensure clarity, accessibility, and impact across diverse audiences.
  • Develop collaborative working relationships with colleagues throughout the organisation to understand their unique data needs and create tailored reporting solutions that foster shared success.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining high-level reports using business intelligence software such as Power BI or Salesforce, coupled with coding skills like Python.
  • Proven ability to manage ambiguity and competing priorities effectively while delivering results in client-facing environments that require flexibility and responsiveness.
  • Track record of establishing productive stakeholder relationships through collaborative teamwork and clear communication.
  • Capacity to explain technical concepts in accessible language both verbally and in writing, demonstrating resilience when operating under pressure.
  • Practical experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Azure-based architecture including Azure Synapse analytics, coding languages relevant to data analysis, Salesforce CRM systems, and Power BI reporting tools.
  • Experience supporting AI productivity tool implementation or working with Large Language Models within an organisational setting is highly regarded.
  • Ability to coordinate data subscription assets responsibly while adhering to established management protocols for security and compliance.
  • Skill in preparing thorough technical documentation related to report building processes as well as user guides for end users seeking clarity on system usage.
  • Commitment to regularly reviewing presentation methods for data insights so they remain impactful across varied audiences within the organisation.
