Cyber Security Analyst

Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide high-level analysis of infrastructure security issues by formulating, designing, and delivering appropriate solutions that improve organisational resilience.
- Proactively maintain cyber security measures to minimise disruptions by leading incident response activities including triage and investigation of operational alerts from the Security Operations Centre monitoring service.
- Manage threat and vulnerability assessments by prioritising identified vulnerabilities within enterprise systems and recommending effective mitigation strategies.
- Conduct comprehensive change threat and risk assessments, vulnerability scans, access audits, and penetration tests on both new and existing infrastructure while guiding teams on reducing security risks.
- Develop and implement robust cybersecurity frameworks including policies, standards, procedures, and guidelines tailored to organisational needs.
- Create, deliver, and coordinate engaging security awareness training sessions for employees to foster a culture of security throughout the organisation.
- Coordinate audit and assurance activities such as IS18 attestation and reporting to governance bodies including Information Management and Security Committee as well as Audit and Risk Committee.
- Establish and maintain highly effective working relationships with staff across departments to ensure alignment of operational services, processes, and service levels throughout the organisation.
- Utilise excellent written and verbal communication skills to explain complex technical concepts clearly to both technical specialists and non-technical audiences.
- Apply effective working knowledge of QLD Government IS18 policy, ASD Essential 8, NIST Cyber Security Framework to install, configure, and maintain enterprise security devices and solutions.
The ideal candidate:
- Demonstrated experience in analysing infrastructure security issues with proven ability to design effective solutions that address complex challenges.
- Strong capability in incident response management including triage, investigation of operational alerts from SOC monitoring services, and proactive maintenance of cyber security measures.
- Expertise in threat assessment methodologies with practical experience prioritising vulnerabilities within enterprise systems using industry-standard frameworks.
- Comprehensive understanding of risk assessment techniques including vulnerability scans, access audits, penetration testing on diverse infrastructure environments.
- Ability to develop cybersecurity frameworks encompassing policies, standards, procedures, guidelines tailored for organisational requirements.
- Experience delivering engaging security awareness training programmes that promote a culture of vigilance among employees.
- Familiarity with audit coordination processes such as IS18 attestation reporting for governance bodies like Information Management & Security Committee or Audit & Risk Committee.
- Excellent interpersonal skills enabling establishment of effective working relationships across departments for seamless integration of operational services.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills allowing clear explanation of technical concepts to varied audiences.
- Working knowledge of QLD Government IS18 policy, ASD Essential 8 controls, NIST Cyber Security Framework for installation/configuration/maintenance of enterprise security devices.
