APS6 Lessons Manager

Our client, a large federal government organisation based in Canberra, is seeking Lessons Managers to join their team. An opportunity to be part of a significant project that will have a substantial impact on the Australian community. As a Lessons Manager, you will support in managing information and develop reporting to capture lessons learned throughout the project.

What you'll do:

As an APS6 Lessons Manager you will

  • Support appropriate lessons management methodologies and contribute to the development and implementation of the lessons management framework throughout the agency.
  • Support the Assistant Director Lessons Management to deliver a lessons program of work.
  • Support and contribute to the collection and analysis of observations, identification of insights and lessons, including maintaining key documentation and information sources.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and operation of a register to collect observations.
  • Engage and work collaboratively with business areas across the agency to contribute to the lessons process and work program, including organising and supporting workshops and briefings.
  • When required represent and explain agency views on lessons management to external audiences.
  • Prepare and contribute to briefings, plans, reports and other lessons documentation to Branch leadership, Governance committees and the Senior Executive.
  • Communicate decisions using professional judgement, evaluating risks in the context of a complex and changing environment.
  • Perform additional duties or assume responsibility of functions as directed from time to time.

What you bring:

  • Knowledge and experience of lessons management, program monitoring, evaluation/or review, or research.
  • Knowledge and experience in analysing qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Ability to analyse systems, policies and procedures to contribute to business improvement, change management practices and techniques to enable innovation.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to arrange information and evidence in a logical manner, summarise key details, and tailor messages for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to engage in an effective and informative manner with stakeholders across a geographically dispersed network.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a small team.

Desirable:

  • Relevant qualifications in project/program management, program review/evaluation or data analysis.
  • Experience in coordinating and supporting workshop delivery.
  • Experience with Microsoft SharePoint and Excel.
  • Experience in developing and enhancing internal process or procedures.
