Policy Specialist

The Policy Specialist will develop and deliver expert advice to support the oversight of cross-border trade digital reforms.

The Digital Policy Specialist plays a crucial role within the Simplified Trade System (STS) reform team. Their responsibilities include:

  • Alignment of Digital and Data Strategies: Supporting the alignment of digital and data strategies with policy and regulatory reforms.
  • Expert Advice: Developing and delivering expert advice related to cross-border trade digital reforms. This involves understanding digital, data, and ICT requirements and proposing easily understood policy advice.
  • Policy Implementation and Reform Roadmaps: Contributing to policy implementation plans, evaluating ongoing STS digital programs, and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Proactively engaging with government agencies, industry partners, and technology experts to gather insights and collaborate on digital reform initiatives.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated experience working in a team to identify, plan and coordinate digital reforms to inform decision making and reforms.
  • Experience working with digital and/or regulatory reform disciplines to conduct research, plan and schedule reform initiatives, including preliminary research into interdependencies
  • Ability to bring together a variety of lenses (e.g. digital, data and ICT requirements) to produce easily understood advice
  • Demonstrated knowledge of policy reform required to enable digital transformation and how to align initiatives with digital strategies, including interdependencies.
  • Baseline Clearance Essential
Desirable criteria:
  • Knowledge and experience in cross border trade and/or ICT policy-making.
  • Experience working in agile multi-disciplinary teams

While an ICT background isn’t required, knowledge of the cross-border trade policy and trade ecosystems is beneficial. If you have a strong policy background this is a great opportunity to influence and support government decisions in advancing trade and investment agendas through comprehensive digital and data reforms. 🌐📊
