Key Responsibilities:

As a Project Management Office Lead, you will play a pivotal role in managing the Council's Project Management Framework. You will provide specialist advice and support to other teams within the Council, contributing to efficient project management. Your leadership skills will be crucial in modelling high standards of work performance, positively influencing teams, and communicating the vision of the Council. You will collaborate with key stakeholders across various sections and departments to lead Project Management Office requirements. Your role will also involve establishing a suite of tools and resources to assist project managers in scoping, managing, and reviewing projects.

  • Responsible for managing Council’s Project Management Framework
  • Provide specialist project management advice and support
  • Lead the management, evaluation and ongoing improvement of the enterprise Project Management Framework
  • Responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders across a range of sections and departments to lead Project Management Office requirements
  • Establish a suite of tools and resources to assist project managers to scope, manage and review projects
  • Works with project teams to develop and maintain all project management documentation involved in delivering a project, at all stages of the project lifecycle
  • Develop regular portfolio reporting for management, Elected Members and community purposes


Key Requirements:

The ideal candidate for the Project Management Office Lead position brings significant experience in project and portfolio management, including the establishment of Project Management Office services. You have demonstrated experience in writing reports, delivering presentations, providing expert recommendations, and advising senior decision makers on project portfolio matters. Your background as a business partner or internal consultant has enabled innovation and business value creation. You are comfortable working autonomously with limited direction, setting objectives, delivering results within timeframes, solving complex problems through analysis and critical thinking.

  • Significant experience (5 years minimum) in project and portfolio management
  • Experience in establishing PMO services for infrastructure projects is highly desirable
  • Demonstrated experience in writing reports and delivering presentations
  • Ability to provide expert recommendations and advice to senior decision makers on project portfolio matters
  • Working autonomously with limited direction, setting objectives and delivering results within timeframes
  • Experience solving complex problems through analysis and critical thinking, drawing insights from a range of data and information
