ICT Procurement Advisor

Save job

An exciting opportunity has arisen for up to two ICT Procurement Advisors to join a highly respected public sector organisation in Brisbane, supporting the delivery of world-class education services across Queensland.

This role offers you the chance to make a meaningful impact by providing expert procurement advice and contract management within a collaborative and supportive team. You will be part of a diverse and inclusive workplace that values your expertise, encourages professional growth, and offers flexible working arrangements to help you balance your career and personal commitments. If you are passionate about procurement, thrive in a communal environment, and want to contribute to the future of education in Queensland, this is your chance to shine.

  • Join a large, diverse organisation dedicated to delivering high-quality education services and supporting Queensland’s economic and social development through effective procurement practices.
  • Enjoy flexible working opportunities in a central Brisbane location, with access to modern facilities and a culture that values teamwork, knowledge sharing, and professional development.
  • Be part of an inclusive team where your skills in ICT procurement and contract management will directly support strategic objectives and have a positive impact on communities across the state.

What you'll do:

As an ICT Procurement Advisor based in Brisbane, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Information and Technologies Branch by delivering expert advice throughout the entire procurement lifecycle. Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve collaborating closely with colleagues from multiple branches to ensure that all ICT-related procurements are conducted efficiently, ethically, and in line with both departmental guidelines and broader government policy. You will be responsible for preparing thorough documentation that underpins each stage of the process—from initial planning through contract administration—while maintaining meticulous records for audit purposes. Your ability to communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels will be essential as you provide guidance on best practices, resolve queries promptly, and contribute positively to the branch’s reputation for excellence. By leveraging your strong organisational skills and attention to detail, you will help drive successful outcomes that align with strategic objectives while fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect and cooperation.

  • Provide comprehensive procurement advice and services for planning activities including developing sourcing documentation, managing release and evaluation processes, as well as overseeing contract negotiation, formation, management, and administration.
  • Offer timely, accurate guidance to internal clients on all matters related to the procurement function, ensuring their needs are met with professionalism and care.
  • Maintain detailed documentary records of all procurement processes, decisions, and contractual arrangements undertaken to ensure full compliance with audit requirements and probity standards.
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere strictly to departmental policies, procedures, and the Queensland Procurement Policy, maintaining transparency and accountability at every stage.
  • Research and prepare high-quality submissions, reports, briefing materials, and correspondence that support informed decision-making within the department.
  • Contribute actively to the ongoing professional practice within the Procurement Services Branch by staying abreast of contemporary strategies, policies, practices, government priorities, and initiatives relevant to procurement.
  • Engage collaboratively with team members and stakeholders across various branches to foster a supportive environment focused on shared goals.
  • Demonstrate excellent oral communication skills by effectively negotiating with suppliers and resolving conflicts in a considerate manner.
  • Utilise advanced computer literacy skills to prepare complex procurement documentation using standard office software packages such as MS Office products.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for process enhancements within ICT procurement projects.

What you bring:

To excel as an ICT Procurement Advisor in this role, you will bring proven experience navigating complex public sector procurement environments—particularly those involving information technology contracts. Your background should include hands-on involvement with major ICT projects where you have demonstrated not only technical expertise but also empathy when engaging with diverse stakeholders. Your approach is grounded in collaboration; you value open communication channels that foster trust among colleagues while ensuring compliance at every step. You possess strong analytical abilities which enable you to interpret policy requirements accurately while adapting quickly when priorities shift. Your written work is clear yet comprehensive—whether drafting contracts or preparing reports—and your verbal communication style is always polite yet persuasive. Above all else, your dedication to ethical conduct ensures that every action taken supports both organisational integrity and community benefit.

  • Demonstrated experience providing quality procurement advice within an ICT context for public sector or similarly regulated environments.
  • Comprehensive understanding of Queensland Government’s Procurement Policy or equivalent frameworks including relevant legislation, tendering procedures, and contracting processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of the Queensland Information Technology Contracting (QITC) Framework or similar contractual models used in large-scale ICT procurements.
  • Exceptional organisational abilities enabling you to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while remaining responsive under pressure in a busy work setting.
  • Excellent written communication skills demonstrated through preparation of complex reports, submissions, contracts, and other key documents required throughout the procurement cycle.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills allowing you to negotiate effectively with suppliers while maintaining harmonious relationships with internal teams.
  • Proven conflict management capabilities ensuring issues are resolved amicably without compromising service quality or stakeholder trust.
  • Advanced computer literacy including proficiency in standard office software packages such as Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Previous hands-on experience managing end-to-end ICT procurement projects from planning through contract completion within large organisations or government departments.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development by keeping up-to-date with emerging trends in procurement strategy as well as changes in government priorities.
