AO4 Assessment Officer
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dedicated Assessment Officer to join a highly respected government authority based in the heart of Brisbane CBD. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about supporting rural and regional communities, with a focus on delivering financial assistance that drives sustainability and economic growth. You will be part of a team that values excellence, integrity, and collaboration, working together to make a tangible difference across Queensland. Initially the contract is for 1 month, however has the possibility of being extended up to 6 months.
What you'll do:
- Complete thorough financial analyses with accuracy and efficiency to ensure timely progression of applications through relevant decision-making channels.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with internal colleagues as well as external stakeholders including applicants, accountants, and solicitors regarding financial data requirements.
- Contribute proactively to the effective management of business unit resources by adhering to governance frameworks covering risk management, work health and safety, and records management policies.
- Support the implementation of process improvements by identifying opportunities for greater efficiency within existing systems or workflows.
- Undertake comprehensive reviews of existing loans in line with established policy guidelines to maintain compliance and service quality.
- Rapidly acquire proficiency in using bespoke in-house computer-based financial administration systems alongside standard Microsoft Office applications.
- Provide concise written correspondence that accurately reflects analytical findings while maintaining clarity for diverse audiences.
- Apply industry knowledge from rural or small business sectors when interpreting financial information during assessments.
- Perform additional duties as directed by management to support overall programme delivery objectives.
What you bring:
- Proven experience applying rural or small business industry knowledge when interpreting financial data for assessment purposes.
- Excellent written communication skills enabling you to produce clear, concise correspondence tailored for both internal reports and external stakeholders.
- Strong time management capabilities allowing you to meet deadlines consistently while prioritising multiple tasks within a busy environment.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, with the capacity to quickly learn new software systems specific to financial administration processes.
- Experience conducting reviews of existing loans or credit applications within policy frameworks is highly regarded.
- A collaborative approach when working with diverse teams internally as well as engaging professionally with clients from varied backgrounds externally.
- Sound understanding of scheme guidelines, financial assessment methodologies, and the broader economic factors affecting rural industries or small businesses.
- Direct exposure or hands-on experience within agribusiness/commercial lending or accounting environments would be advantageous.
- Tertiary qualifications in accounting, agribusiness, economics or related fields are highly desirable but not mandatory.
