Meet Sasha, one of our very own Admin Superstars

Sasha Robert Walters Admin Superstar

I started my Government administration traineeship 11 years ago to get my foot in the door after graduating from my Communications degree. Upon completion of my traineeship I worked as a receptionist in the Emergency Services and quickly moved into an Executive Assistant role for one of the ‘Big 4’ accounting firms prior to joining Robert Walters as the Office Manager.

The role I’m currently in is a bit of a hybrid role as it implies being the Office Manager and an Associate Consultant at the same time. I get to manage the office while resourcing talent for our volume recruitment team which keeps my job interesting.

A typical day involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Adelaide office which requires wearing different hats. Constantly re-prioritising tasks, keeping processes and procedures in place, while liaising with colleagues to complete their requests fills my day.

What I enjoy most in my career is the ‘helping others’ side of my job. Working in a number of positions during my time at Robert Walters has provided me with a really sound understanding of how the business works end-to-end.

What sets apart an Admin Superstar from the crowd is someone who:

  • gets a kick out of helping others
  • is approachable, adaptable, able to deal with ambiguity
  • has a not-too-precious personality
  • is a clear communicator and a self-motivator

Sasha is the backbone of our office and allows for the success of the team through her ability to manage workflow in a pressured environment, while delivering a level of service that is professional and memorable to all involved, says Michelle Christie, Robert Walters Adelaide Office Director.

For those who want to go to extra-mile and excel in this competitive industry, development of critical foundational skills is key. Make sure the organisation you choose to work for values training and career growth. Don’t forget to work on establishing your own professional branding and put it into practice every day. Above all, be a team player - build upon strategic and commercial thinking to best support the stakeholders involved to ensure you make the right call.
