What you'll do:

As Principal Human Resources Advisor, you will be at the forefront of driving impactful HR initiatives that underpin organisational success. Your day-to-day activities will involve collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders to advance key projects related to culture enhancement, leadership development, and workforce engagement. You will have the autonomy to manage significant programmes from inception through to delivery while ensuring alignment with broader strategic goals. By leveraging your expertise in change management and your approachable communication style, you will help guide employees through periods of transition—ensuring they feel supported, informed, and empowered. Your ability to craft compelling communications and provide thoughtful advice will be instrumental in fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone can thrive.

  • Drive the implementation of human resource initiatives and programmes that support positive organisational change and measurable improvements in employee engagement.
  • Lead the advancement of culture and capability deliverables outlined in the operational plan, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Foster effective relationships with external stakeholders such as professional development providers, coaching consultants, and public sector partners to enhance workforce capability.
  • Support leadership and management development by designing and facilitating learning opportunities that build skills across all levels of the organisation.
  • Champion action planning related to Working for Queensland survey results, translating feedback into practical strategies for workplace improvement.
  • Guide employees through periods of transformative workplace change by providing empathetic support, clear communication, and resources that promote agility and innovation.
  • Prepare high-quality briefs, employee communications, and engagement collateral tailored to diverse audiences within the organisation.
  • Operate with a degree of independence to progress identified programmes of work while maintaining regular reporting lines to senior leadership.
  • Contribute to a collaborative team environment by sharing knowledge, supporting colleagues, and modelling inclusive behaviours.

  • Demonstrated experience in generalist human resources roles within either the Queensland public sector or comparable private sector environments, showcasing adaptability across different contexts.
  • Proven track record in leading culture and capability initiatives that drive positive organisational outcomes during times of significant change.
  • Strong background in leadership development, learning facilitation, or workforce development functions with an emphasis on supporting teams through transformation.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling you to build trust-based relationships with executives, senior leaders, frontline staff, and external partners alike.
  • Outstanding written communication abilities evidenced by preparing briefs, reports, employee communications, and engagement materials tailored for varied audiences.
  • Approachable communication style combined with influencing skills that allow you to connect effectively across stakeholder groups while promoting shared understanding.
  • Experience engaging directly with senior decision-makers on confidential or sensitive matters requiring sound judgement and discretion.
  • Ability to operate independently when required while remaining responsive to direction from senior leadership as needed for programme advancement.
