ABOUT THE COMPANY:
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) is the national agency responsible for administering the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme (National Scheme) in partnership with 16 National Boards for regulated health professions. Aphra’s overall mission is to protect the public by regulating health practitioners efficiently and effectively in the public interest to facilitate access to safer healthcare for all the community.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
This role is based in Adelaide on a full time 12-month contract, with opportunity for extension beyond this. The Health, Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator is responsible for the provision of technical support and advisory services to enable delivery of the Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) compliance, health management and workplace wellbeing initiatives and activities that support Ahpra to embed an effective and proactive workplace health, safety and wellbeing culture. The HSW Coordinator also provides advice and support to the People and Culture Business Partner network, and other stakeholders as required. Working closely with and reporting to the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Specialist, this role includes a focus on transactional HSW activities, including systems compliance, workers compensation claims management, and Ahpra workplace health support programs while effectively developing and managing key stakeholder relationships.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and Maintain Ahpra’s Work Health and Safety Information System (WHSIMS). Monitor and prepare standard periodic HSW compliance reporting to inform Aphra’s officers of Aphra’s HSW performance and effectiveness
- Respond to incident reports, providing procedural advice to managers and stakeholders to appropriately review and identify root causes and corrective actions, while supporting early intervention of injuries through active monitoring of incident reports
- Coordinate HSW activities, continuous improvement opportunities, committee tasks and information Health, Safety and Wellbeing Coordinator (RD final) 2 sharing; including maintenance of local office safety notice-boards and HSW intranet pages, organising workshops, meetings and events with internal and external stakeholders, and attendance at local committee meetings, as required
- Provide transactional HSW support to People and Culture Business Partners, managers and employees regarding health support, safety compliance, processes and wellbeing offerings, including assist with the assessment of suitable employee work equipment and provisions, reviewing ergonomic requirements, and identifying individual support needs as appropriate.
- Coordinate the workplace rehabilitation and return to work programs of injured employees in the workplace through the workers compensation scheme or Ahpra’s health support program
- Assist in the development of a contemporary suite of HSW policies and procedures to outline legislative and practical responsibilities required for compliant governance and achieve a physically and psychologically safe workplace.
- Participate in and contribute to the continued development, improvement and implementation of Health, Safety and Wellbeing initiatives that are current, sustainable and accessible to all employees and support the HSW Specialist to deliver national frameworks and programs including the health support program, national wellbeing program and accreditation of Ahpra’s WHSMS to ISO45001 and ISO45003
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent level of experience across required areas of expertise
- Certification as a rehabilitation and return to work coordinator
- Proficient with WHSIMs, preferably QuickClaim and QuickSafe
- Proficient across the Microsoft Office suite, including SharePoint and MS Teams
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to deal appropriately with sensitive, confidential information with strong ability to engage and sustain successful collaborative stakeholder relationships
- Strong organisational skills, including the ability to effectively prioritise and manage multiple tasks and deadlines whilst ensuring attention to detail
- Highly developed knowledge and experience in multi-jurisdictional worker’s compensation schemes’ legislation and operations
- Strong administration, verbal and written communication skills
