Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Safety Advisor to join their dynamic team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the safety and wellbeing of staff, volunteers, and others within state government workplaces. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and consulting on workplace health and safety strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures, and control measures.

As a Senior Safety Advisor, you will play a pivotal role in promoting healthy, safe workplaces as a key priority. You will be responsible for developing comprehensive workplace health and safety strategies that align with legislative requirements. Your expertise will be crucial in researching, designing, implementing policies that support the organisation's health, safety and wellbeing framework. You will also have the opportunity to manage projects addressing emerging issues in health, safety and wellbeing.

  • Plan, formulate, develop, implement and monitor workplace health and safety management systems and performance standards which establish compliance with the relevant legislation.
  • Research, design, develop, implement, and evaluate policies, practices and guidelines to support the health, safety and wellbeing framework.
  • Develop documentation, submissions, executive briefs, policies, procedures and reports on health, safety and wellbeing issues and initiatives.
  • Provide authoritative advice to management and staff to enhance understanding of responsibilities and improve health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Develop and conduct presentations, seminars and training programs for a diverse range of clients.
  • Manage projects and develop innovative strategies to address emerging health, safety and wellbeing issues.

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Safety Advisor position brings a wealth of knowledge in Workplace Health & Safety. With qualifications or experience in workplace investigation or auditing under your belt, you are well-equipped to handle any challenges this role presents. Your ability to plan & implement effective workplace health & safety management systems sets you apart from others. Your strong communication skills enable you to provide authoritative advice that enhances understanding of responsibilities & improves overall outcomes.

  • Certificate IV or higher in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Qualifications or experience in workplace investigation, auditing or safety management system design.
  • Ability to plan, formulate, develop and implement workplace health & safety management systems.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments & incident investigations.
  • Strong communication skills with ability to provide authoritative advice.
