Senior WHS Advisor

Our client is a leading department within Queensland. They are seeking a Senior Workplace Health and Safety Advisor to join their dedicated team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing success of the department by promoting healthy, safe and well workplaces as a key priority. You will be responsible for developing, implementing and consulting on workplace health and safety strategies, initiatives, policies, procedures and control measures.


What you'll do:

As a Senior WHS Advisor, your role will be pivotal in ensuring the safety and wellbeing of staff across all levels. You will be tasked with planning, formulating, developing, implementing and monitoring workplace health and safety management systems that comply with relevant legislation. Your expertise will be crucial in researching, designing, developing, implementing, evaluating policies as well as providing authoritative advice to management. You will also have the opportunity to manage projects addressing emerging health issues while working closely with multidisciplinary teams.


  • Plan, formulate, develop, implement and monitor workplace health and safety management systems.
  • Research, design, develop, implement, and evaluate policies, practices and guidelines to support the health, safety and wellbeing framework.
  • Develop documentation, submissions, executive briefs, policies, procedures and reports on health, safety and wellbeing issues.
  • Provide authoritative advice to enhance understanding of responsibilities and improve health, safety and wellbeing outcomes.
  • Develop and conduct presentations, seminars and training programs for a diverse range of clients.
  • Manage projects and develop innovative strategies to address emerging health, safety and wellbeing issues.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary teams and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct risk assessments, incident investigations including preparation of recommendations and reports.


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Senior WHS Advisor position brings a wealth of experience in workplace investigation, auditing as well as safety management system design. Your qualifications should include Certificate IV or higher in Workplace Health & Safety. Your ability to provide authoritative advice on health & safety matters will be highly valued. Additionally, your project management skills coupled with your ability to develop educational strategies for a diverse range of clients will set you apart.

  • Certificate IV or higher in Workplace Health and Safety.
  • Experience in workplace investigation.
  • Experience in auditing.
  • Experience in safety management system design and operation.
  • Ability to provide authoritative advice on health, safety and wellbeing matters.
  • Ability to develop educational strategies for a diverse range of clients.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to conduct risk assessments.
