What you'll do:
As a Safety Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in promoting a positive safety culture within your assigned portfolio of retirement village sites across western Victoria.
Work from home is offered with travel to work sites in Western Victoria required on a quarterly basis (approx. one visit per week).
- Provide advice and support to local managers on WHS legislation, compliance codes, standards and best practice.
- Participate actively in WHS projects and initiatives to drive safety improvements within the business unit.
- Conduct hazard inspections, risk assessments and WHS audits as required.
- Review incident reports and undertake workplace incident reviews and investigations where necessary.
- Develop and deliver education and training for staff in accordance with Employee Training and Development Practice Guidelines.
- Support managers during regulator inspectorate visits.
- Assist in policy development and review.
- Represent the WHS unit on Committees as assigned.
What you bring:
As a Safety Specialist, your proven experience in Occupational Health and Safety will be invaluable. You bring a deep understanding of the WHS legislative framework, ideally gained within a health services/Aged Care/Social Assistance environment.
- Occupational Health and Safety qualification
- Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is advantageous.
- Demonstrated understanding of applying the WHS legislative framework ideally within a health services/Aged Care/Social Assistance environment.
- Ability to undertake WHS risk assessments, incident investigation, conduct hazard inspections.
- Drivers licence and transport for travel to sites (expenses reimbursed)
