The Role
As the Work Health and Safety Advisor at Adelaide Airport, you will play a key role to enhance safety for everyone who works at or visits the airport.
Reporting to the WHS Manager, you will contribute to maintaining AAL’s mature WHS Management System through business partnering, monitoring, assurance, and verification activities. The role monitors and mentors contractors and their internal managers, facilitates WHS consultation activities, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives
Key Responsibilities
- Monitors contractor safety performance and compliance, and works with internal stakeholders to enhance contractor safety across AAL & PAL, including contractor pre-qualification and onboarding, inductions, permits to work, and contractor audits..
- Facilitate hazard inspections and task observations, identifying and assisting to implement corrective actions and driving continuous improvement by coaching and mentoring of staff and contractors in safety performance objectives.
- Maintain and administer AAL’s Contractor Management System (SitePass) and Risk/Incident Management System (Riskonnect).
- Facilitate WHS consultation activities such as WHS Committee meetings, workshops with Health and Safety Representatives, and Contractor Safety Committees.
- Support the development and enhancement of AAL’s safety culture among employees, contractors, and third parties operating at the airport.
- Assist in maintaining AAL’s WHS Management System (WHSMS) including ensuring documented risk assessment activities are compled and kept current.
About you:
You will be a passionate professional who thrives in a busy and supportive work environment.
A proven track record in Work Health & Safety roles - especially those involving contractor management will bring not only technical expertise but also outstanding interpersonal skills that allow you to foster positive relationships across multiple business areas.
In addition, you will ideally have:
- 2–3 years’ eterience in WHS with a strong focus on contractor management and permits to work.
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety (minimum Certificate IV) are highly desirable for this position.
- Proven understanding of construction safety principles
- Experience administering WHS systems such as incident reporting platforms or contractor management tools is desirable.
- Previous exposure to management systems auditing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with permit to work systems and process will be looked upon favourably but is not essential.
