As the Industrial Relations Manager - Compliance, you will report to the Head of Employee Relations. You will be responsible for supporting a number of compliance related matters as well as initiatives to review, streamline and simplify existing arrangements.

Working in a hybrid-model in fantastic Sydney CBD offices, with a strong team structure in place at a huge leading Australian Bank. Opportunity to WFH 50% along with a competitive salary package!

Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Industrial Relations Manager to join their team during a pivotal time of transformation. This role offers the unique opportunity to foster a culture of innovation and make a significant impact on the Australian people. Based in Sydney CBD, this permanent position focuses on compliance and industrial relations matters within the Employee Relations & Industrial Relations team.

What you'll do:

As an Industrial Relations Manager, your role will be instrumental in fostering a positive work environment while minimising legal risks associated with employee and industrial relations matters. You will report directly to the Head of Employee Relations, taking responsibility for a number of key compliance matters and strategic pieces of work. Your expertise will be crucial in advising on compliance matters, training stakeholders, reviewing compliance gaps, interpreting legislative requirements, and managing industrial relations strategy.

  • Supporting compliance-related matters and initiatives to review, streamline, and simplify existing arrangements
  • Managing industrial relations including enterprise agreement negotiations
  • Advising on compliance matters including wage compliance reviews and activities arising from recent legislative changes
  • Training and updating key stakeholders on compliance issues and process changes
  • Reviewing and assessing compliance gaps, risks, and improvement initiatives, as well as leading related projects with stakeholder collaboration
  • Interpreting and providing guidance on employee matters and legislative requirements


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Industrial Relations Manager position brings a wealth of knowledge in employment law, employee relations, and industrial relations. Your background in a regulated, financial, or legal organisation will be highly regarded. Your ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at different levels will be essential in this role. Your excellent written and oral communication skills will enable you to advise on complex compliance matters clearly and effectively.

  • We need someone who has designed a bargaining strategy, analysed EAs and led bargaining
  • Industrial relations experience required
  • Legal qualifications and employment law experience (preferably in-house) desired
  • Experience in employee relations
  • Experience in a regulated, financial, or legal organisation
  • Knowledge of relevant workplace legislation, regulations and enterprise bargaining
  • Ability to work on all aspects of the role (including getting involved in the detail)
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
