Senior Business Analyst

Our client is a leading investment research house, providing financial product ratings, market insights & portfolio construction tools to empower financial advisers, advice licensees, fund managers and super funds. They are seeking a Senior Business Analyst who will be responsible for gathering and documenting business and functional requirements, and for documenting system and business knowledge. The successful candidate will work proactively and collaboratively in cross-functional, scrum-like teams to deliver commercial and client-focused outcomes in their projects and systems.

What you'll do:
As a Senior Business Analyst, your role will be pivotal in driving the success of our client's technology and data projects. You will be tasked with gathering and documenting business requirements from both technical and non-technical users. Your excellent problem-solving skills will be utilised as you support Project Leads, business partners, and software engineers in ideation sessions. Your ability to translate needs between business-users and software engineers will ensure that all stakeholders are aligned. You will also play an active role in cross-functional project teams, contributing to the design of user/customer journeys. Additionally, you will create user training documentation, facilitate learning sessions, and support the testing function during project cycles.
• Gather and document business and functional requirements in collaboration with non-technical and technical users
• Support in ideation and problem-solving with Project Leads, business partners, and internal & external software engineers
• Groom requirements and translate needs with both business-users and software engineers
• Mapping the user/customer journey for solution design
• Participate actively and collaboratively in cross-functional, scrum-like project teams
• Create user training documentation and facilitation
• Support the testing function, and the Quality Assurance Manager during project cycles

What you bring:
The ideal candidate for the Senior Business Analyst role brings a wealth of experience from the finance industry. With over 5 years of direct experience as a Business Analyst, you have honed your analytical and problem-solving skills. Your experience working in geographically distributed project teams has equipped you with strong interpersonal skills. You are proficient in using Atlassian products such as Jira and Confluence. Your strong technical documentation skills enable you to clearly communicate complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience in the finance industry (wealth or investment experience will be preferred)
• 5+ years direct experience as a Business Analyst
• Experience working in geographically distributed project teams
• Experience using Atlassian products (Jira and Confluence)
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong technical documentation skills
• Highly developed communication skills – particularly with non-technical stakeholders
• An understanding of investment products and funds management processes
• Experience from a Technical BA perspective will be preferred
