Security Engineering Lead

The Role: We are looking for a highly skilled Security Engineering Lead to join an innovative and forward-thinking team. This position offers a competitive salary package of $140,000 - $160,000 + Super + Bonus and is based in Sydney. The role provides the opportunity to work within a cutting-edge Cyber Security Operations Centre (CSOC), collaborating closely with key stakeholders to deliver exceptional managed security services. What you'll do

As the Security Engineering Lead, you will take a hands-on approach to designing, deploying, and managing advanced security platforms. You will address technical challenges, optimize system performance, and drive improvements across the CSOC environment. Your role will include mentoring junior team members, resolving escalations, maintaining documentation, and managing patching and vulnerability efforts. Success in this role will require a strong technical skill set, the ability to prioritize tasks effectively, and a commitment to delivering secure, scalable, and high-performing solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

• Designing and deploying security platforms for new and existing clients.
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex issues related to SOC security tools.
• Upgrading and optimizing security systems based on operational requirements.
• Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure systems meet performance, security, and scalability needs.
• Developing and maintaining technical documentation.
• Managing patching and vulnerability processes for managed security platforms.

What you bring

The ideal candidate will have significant experience across multiple technology streams, including systems, infrastructure, SaaS, and cloud environments. You should have strong hands-on expertise in security technologies and experience implementing and supporting security products in SOC environments. A proven track record of creating detailed design documentation and contributing to enterprise-level builds is essential. Prior experience in security operations, particularly in enterprise, corporate, or government settings, will be highly valued.

Key qualifications:

• At least 2 years of experience across a range of technology streams, including systems, infrastructure, SaaS, private, and public cloud.
• 2+ years of experience implementing and supporting security products within a SOC environment.
• Strong technical and hands-on experience across diverse security technologies.
• Demonstrated ability to create detailed design documentation for enterprise solutions.
• Recent experience in security operations, particularly in enterprise, corporate, or government environments.
• Strong prioritization, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
