Linux Engineer (NSW)

Working Arrangements: Hybrid - 2 days per week in the office

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1

About our requirements

  • Run and maintain the Department's core IT services, upon which all other IT services are based. Including; data centres, servers, virtualization, operating systems, storage, backup, time, logging, email, domain name resolution, web proxying and security.
  • Securely manage the Department's connections to/from the internet and other government networks.
  • Perform daily security monitoring and risk mitigations across the Department's IT environment.

This procurement is being initiated to procure an appropriately skilled Linux Engineer to meet project and BaU requirements. Upcoming operational project work includes web proxy renewal and process improvements associated to certificate renewal.

About the Project

The engineer will work within a team accountable for the ongoing operation, management and maintenance of:

  • All of the agencies Linux instances (650+ hosts) spread mostly across Ubuntu/RHEL
  • The agency’s core IT services, including:

 Virtualisation (VMware)
 Block and file storage (Pure Storage)
 Backup (Cohesity)
 Log index/search (Splunk).
 Monitoring (Zabbix, Splunk)
 DNS (BIND)
 NTP
 SMTP (Postfix)
 web proxying (Squid and Forcepoint/Websense)
 RSA SecurID
