Principal Enterprise Architect

Our Federal Government client is looking for a Enterprise Architect with a deep understanding of IT infrastructure, applications, and business processes. This candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing enterprise-wide technology solutions that align with the department's business objectives.

As an Enterprise Architect, you will play a key role in designing and implementing enterprise-wide technology solutions that align with the department;s business objectives. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep expertise in IT infrastructure, applications, and business processes. Reporting to the Technical Delivery Leader program, you will drive architectural initiatives, ensuring scalability, security, and efficiency across the organisation’s ICT landscape.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the department's architecture strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and objectives.

  • Design and oversee the integration of new technologies into existing systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Establish and enforce architectural standards, policies, and best practices across the organisation.

  • Communicate technology strategy and architecture roadmap to key senior stakeholders, ensuring business alignment.

  • Lead the design of IT solutions, including hardware, software, and network configurations, ensuring scalability and sustainability.

  • Collaborate with business leaders, IT teams, and external vendors to gather requirements and ensure solutions meet business needs.

  • Provide architectural oversight and guidance for major IT projects, ensuring on-time, within-scope, and on-budget completion.

  • Identify and mitigate architectural risks and security issues.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and industry trends to assess their potential impact on enterprise architecture.

  • Create and maintain detailed architectural documentation, including diagrams, models, and technical specifications.

  • Provide training and mentorship to IT staff on architectural best practices and new technologies.

Essential Criteria

  1. Experience: A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.

  2. Enterprise Architecture Expertise: Deep knowledge of enterprise architecture frameworks, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and IT infrastructure.

  3. Cloud Knowledge: Strong experience with Cloud implementation and operational best practices, particularly AWS and related technologies.

  4. Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically and design complex solutions.

  5. Communication Skills: Ability to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  6. Government Experience: Knowledge of Australian Government Architecture and other Whole-of-Government technology strategies.
