We are seeking a Technical Architect for a 6-month rolling contract with a large international mining company. The role involves reviewing vendor designs, optimising networking (including wireless, P25, LTE), and managing Microsoft server infrastructure. Key responsibilities include evaluating vendor solutions, enhancing network performance, managing telecommunication systems, and managing Microsoft server infrastructure.

Overview:

We have partnered with a tier-1 international mining company who are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Technical Architect for a 6-month rolling contract. The successful candidate will work closely with the engineering and IT teams to review vendor designs, optimise networking and telecommunication networks (including wireless, P25, and LTE), and manage Microsoft server infrastructure. This role is crucial in ensuring the reliability, security, and efficiency of the IT and communication systems, which are essential for their mining operations globally.

Key Responsibilities:

Vendor Design Review:

  • Evaluate and review technical designs provided by vendors to ensure they meet standards and requirements.
  • Provide technical feedback and recommendations to vendors for design improvements.
  • Ensure vendor solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with industry best practices.

Networking:

  • Design, implement, and manage networking solutions to support the company’s operations.
  • Optimise network performance, reliability, and security.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve network issues in a timely manner.

Telecommunication Networks:

  • Manage and optimise wireless communication systems, including P25 and LTE networks.
  • Ensure seamless integration of telecommunication systems with existing infrastructure.
  • Conduct regular assessments and upgrades to enhance communication network performance.

Microsoft Server Infrastructure:

  • Oversee the design, deployment, and management of Microsoft server infrastructure.
  • Ensure servers are properly configured, maintained, and secure.
  • Implement best practices for server management, including regular updates, patches, and backups.

Collaboration and Support:

  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure IT and communication systems meet operational needs.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Participate in project planning and execution, ensuring timely delivery of technical solutions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Technical Architect or similar role, preferably in the mining or heavy industry sectors.
  • Strong expertise in networking technologies and protocols.
  • In-depth knowledge of wireless communication networks (P25, LTE) and their applications.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft server infrastructure.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with vendor management and procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and services (e.g., Azure, AWS).
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and compliance requirements.
  • Project management experience and the ability to lead technical projects.
