Principal DevOps Engineer

Our client is looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to join their technology services team. The role involves designing, implementing, and managing infrastructure using Microsoft Azure technologies. You will be responsible for continuous integration and deployment pipelines, ensuring efficient development and deployment of software applications. The position offers a flexible hybrid working model with a mix of office and remote work.

About the role:

Utilising your expertise in Azure DevOps processes, you will be instrumental in collaborating with external vendors and internal technical teams to streamline processes and promote continuous improvement. If you have a strong appetite to elevate your career into a technical lead or people management role, this team have multiple opportunities to support growth whilst providing key mentorship.

Please note this role will require frequent travel to our client's regional office in the Gippsland region.

What you'll be doing:

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and DevOps practices using Microsoft Azure services.
  • Develop and manage CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes.
  • Implement secure DevOps practices, integrating security measures throughout the development life-cycle
  • Develop automation scripts and tools to boost operational efficiency
  • Monitor and optimise the performance of infrastructure and applications
  • Lead technical projects

What you'll bring to the role:

The ideal candidate for this Principal DevOps Engineer role brings extensive experience in DevOps with a specific focus on Microsoft Azure. Your proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python will be essential for success in this role. You have a proven track record of managing CI/CD platforms like Azure DevOps and are familiar with container tools like Kubernetes, AKS. Your strong analytical skills make you adept at troubleshooting complex issues. Above all else, your excellent communication skills enable you to effectively collaborate with various stakeholders.

  • 4+ years experience in DevOps with a focus on Microsoft Azure.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Bash, Python.
  • Experience with CI/CD platforms like Azure DevOps.
  • Knowledge of container tools like Kubernetes, AKS.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in troubleshooting.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
