Working Arrangements: The work is to be performed at the Department’s premises in Adelaide. The following locations may be considered: Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney

Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Baseline

The role will involve having or the ability to gain knowledge of the Department’s software development lifecycle, tools, services, deployment procedures and cyber security policies as well as industry best practices. You will work closely with Software Architects, Scrum Masters, Product Owners, Analysts and Testers with the shared purpose of building simple, helpful, respectful and transparent services for everyday Australians.


Key duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • lead and create software and technical designs for the realisation of highly complex development solutions
  • develop strategy to ensure high quality code and long-term maintenance of a product's code base
  • provide specialist technical advice on software development and maintenance
  • lead the release and ensure go-live production support and maintenance for the team’s developments
  • lead analysis, design, software development, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance activities
  • review and undertake high-level analysis of technical requirements to support project evaluation with proposed solutions
  • ensure compliance with endorsed software development methodologies
  • investigate and resolve highly complex ICT issues
  • lead a positive risk management culture
  • engage and manage stakeholder relationships and partner with other agencies and service providers to build service delivery capability
  • contribute to business and strategic workforce planning, and drive the development of local strategies to improve key performance measures
  • manage business objectives and implement strategic priorities to achieve outcomes
  • lead the development and delivery of projects within the assigned area of responsibility


Primary Knowledge/Skills/Systems/Tools required for role include:

  • SAP ABAP CRM, UI5

Mandatory Criteria

• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Developer

Weighted Criteria

  • Hands on or advanced level skills in developing technical SAP CRM solutions, with specific experience in the CRM One Order framework, OData and related components, including all relevant development environments and tools, for example SAPUI5, CRM, BOPF, BRF+
  • Demonstrated strong communication skills, both in writing documentation and when writing code
  • Demonstrated practical experience in designing and developing high quality solutions in large and complex, enterprise environments (preferably with Federal Government organisations).
  • Demonstrated experience in a technical leadership role
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment and dealing with ambiguity
  • Ability to perform the requirements of the role within a large complex and geographically dispersed ICT environment
  • Demonstrated experience working using both Agile and waterfall work styles
