Senior Network Communications Engineer

Our Federal Government client is looking for an experienced Senior Network Communications Engineer to join a dynamic team in Sydney. This exciting opportunity involves working with a range of cutting-edge technologies and supporting a variety of stakeholders in a high-performance environment.

  • Location: Sydney, NSW
  • Contract Duration: 12 months, with potential extensions
  • Working Arrangement: Onsite
  • Security Clearance: Must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assurance and guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues in SDWAN, WAN, LAN, and wireless networks.
  • Lead the identification, assessment, and remediation of network vulnerabilities.
  • Prioritize vulnerabilities based on their severity, exploitability, and potential impact.
  • Collaborate with security teams to address vulnerabilities in a timely manner.
  • Explore opportunities for network automation and process improvement.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation and policies.

What you will bring:

  • Solid understanding of industry best practices in network communications, particularly security standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of network protocols and technologies.
  • Extensive experience with firewall technologies.
  • Expertise in Cisco ACI design, implementation, and management within Data Centre Architecture.
  • Familiarity with Cisco Application Centric Infrastructure (ACI) components such as Tenant, BD, VRF, EPG, and APIC.
  • Proficient in integrating services and appliances with Cisco ACI deployments (e.g., Load Balancers, Firewalls, VMware).
  • Certified Cisco CCIE-Data Centre and/or Routing and Switching.
  • Proven troubleshooting experience with packet captures, analyzers, and network automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Python).
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, VMware, Azure) and network systems (DNS, DHCP, Tacacs, Syslog).
  • Strong project delivery experience across the full lifecycle.
  • Experience with other network and security technologies (e.g., Juniper, Fortinet, Riverbed WAN optimization, F5 Load balancing).

  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, able to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Strong analytic, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Eligibility:


Candidates must be able to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
