Applications Specialist - SQL, Linux and Python/PHP

This role offers the opportunity to work within a nurturing and caring environment that caters for the academic, spiritual, and pastoral needs of thousands of students in NSW. The successful candidate will be responsible for partnering with key stakeholders to identify and implement potential improvements to key systems and integration's. They will also provide quality proactive customer service in a timely manner.

What you'll do:

As an Applications Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of our client's key business applications. You will be tasked with developing and maintaining application integration's, monitoring application performance, and resolving any incidents that arise. Your ability to analyse incident trends will be vital in identifying problems and implementing solutions. Additionally, you will be responsible for software maintenance tasks such as implementing patches and system upgrades. Your expertise will also be called upon to advise on the capabilities of systems to meet business needs.

• Develop and maintain application integration's ensuring their smooth running
• Monitor and optimise applications to ensure appropriate performance levels
• Identify and resolve incidents relating to key applications
• Analyse incident trends to identify problems and root causes
• Implement software maintenance including patches and system upgrades
• Provide ongoing development in key applications
• Offer advice on the capabilities of systems to meet business needs

What you bring:

The ideal Applications Specialist candidate brings a strong technical background with a broad understanding of systems, networks, and APIs. Their passion for application support is evident through their previous experience working in a similar role within a medium to large enterprise. They possess strong written and spoken communication skills with the ability to describe technical concepts simply to non-technical people. Furthermore, they demonstrate an ability to quickly understand new technologies and how they are being used across the organisation.

• Strong technical background with a broad understanding of systems, networks, and APIs
• Experience coding in PHP or Python, Linux scripting and SQL
• Passion for application support with experience working in a similar role in a medium to large enterprise
• Strong written and spoken communication skills with the ability to describe technical concepts simply to non-technical people
• Ability to quickly understand new technologies and how they are being used across the organisation
