Save job

We are looking for an Associate and Senior Associate level lawyer (2-6y PQE) with demonstrated front-end drafting experience in construction, procurement or commercial matters (ideally all three). All of our lawyers are encouraged to work on both front-end drafting matters and back-end dispute matters.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be involved in:

  • Drafting and developing contract and procurement documentation for principals (including government agencies), contractors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers, with exposure to some of Queensland’s largest local government projects
  • Preparing suites of precedent and template documents for use by government clients, developers and contractors
  • Reviewing contracts to ensure compliance with legislative changes and other required updates
  • Negotiating contracts, including managing departures and participating in face-to-face negotiations
  • Advising on contract management, procurement processes, probity considerations and broader legal issues relating to major projects
  • Assisting with dispute resolution and, where required, litigation matters

In this role, you’ll work closely within a collaborative team, delegating tasks where appropriate, mentoring junior lawyers, and contributing to a supportive learning environment. You’ll also be expected to maintain strong client relationships, work effectively alongside colleagues, and consistently deliver high-quality legal outcomes.

About You

You will bring to the role a combination of professionalism, approachability and drive. Ideally, you are:

  • Professional, personable and positive
  • Focused on delivering solutions and results
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills
  • Supportive and encouraging of colleagues
  • Skilled in managing competing priorities and deadlines
  • Confident working both collaboratively and independently
  • A natural leader who is able to guide and develop others

What We Offer

  • The chance to work on major, high-profile projects in a supportive and flexible environment
  • A competitive remuneration package
  • A centrally located office, close to cafés, restaurants and walking tracks
  • A hybrid work model to support balance and flexibility
  • A friendly, approachable and social team culture
  • Paid parental leave
  • Regular social events and team activities
  • Ongoing training and professional development opportunities
  • A pet-friendly workplace
  • Reasonable and achievable billable targets
