Senior/Associate - Commercial Construction Lawyer
We are looking for an Associate and Senior Associate level lawyer (2-6y PQE) with demonstrated front-end drafting experience in construction, procurement or commercial matters (ideally all three). All of our lawyers are encouraged to work on both front-end drafting matters and back-end dispute matters.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be involved in:
- Drafting and developing contract and procurement documentation for principals (including government agencies), contractors, subcontractors, consultants and suppliers, with exposure to some of Queensland’s largest local government projects
- Preparing suites of precedent and template documents for use by government clients, developers and contractors
- Reviewing contracts to ensure compliance with legislative changes and other required updates
- Negotiating contracts, including managing departures and participating in face-to-face negotiations
- Advising on contract management, procurement processes, probity considerations and broader legal issues relating to major projects
- Assisting with dispute resolution and, where required, litigation matters
In this role, you’ll work closely within a collaborative team, delegating tasks where appropriate, mentoring junior lawyers, and contributing to a supportive learning environment. You’ll also be expected to maintain strong client relationships, work effectively alongside colleagues, and consistently deliver high-quality legal outcomes.
