APAC Employment Counsel
You will be joining a market-leading global financial services organisation as a senior APAC Employment Counsel, stepping into a high-impact, business-facing role within a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Working closely with senior stakeholders across the region, you’ll play a key role in shaping employment strategy while leading a small team and navigating complex, cross-border legal matters.

About the Role
Responsibilities include:
- Provide expert advice across the full employment lifecycle, including hiring, performance management, workplace investigations, separations, and workplace health & safety
- Ensure compliance with relevant employment and regulatory frameworks across Australia and the broader APAC region
- Monitor legal developments and proactively guide the business on emerging risks and changes
- Draft, review and negotiate employment contracts, policies, and related documentation
- Partner closely with HR and senior leadership to deliver practical, commercially focused outcomes
- Deliver training on employment law topics to internal stakeholders
- Manage external legal counsel where required
- Contribute to broader legal matters, including privacy, commercial, and regulatory issues
- Lead, mentor and develop a small employment law team
About You
You have:
- Qualified lawyer with a current practising certificate
- Minimum 8+ years’ PQE, ideally gained in a top-tier law firm and/or in-house
- Strong expertise in Australian employment law, with exposure to APAC jurisdictions highly regarded
- Confident engaging with senior stakeholders and navigating complex, fast-moving environments
- Excellent drafting, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in privacy or commercial/financial services law is a bonus
- Experience leading a team is highly regarded
