Legal Counsel - Commercial - 12 Month Contract

You will be joining a highly regarded national general insurance company as a junior to mid-level commercial in-house lawyer within an established, flexible and fun legal team based in either Sydney or Melbourne on a 12 month fixed-term contract.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

• Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key stakeholders to understand their priorities and deliver practical, commercially driven legal and governance advice.
• Provide clear, solution-oriented legal guidance on commercial contracts, procurement, partnerships, and consumer law, ensuring compliance with evolving regulations and industry standards.
• Stay informed of relevant legal and regulatory changes, maintaining up-to-date expertise to ensure proactive legal support.
• Foster a collaborative, high-performance team environment by contributing feedback, supporting strategic initiatives, and streamlining systems and processes.
• Oversee legal components of key projects, using technology and external providers to enhance efficiency and align with business goals.

About You

You have:

• You will have 2-6 years PQE with relevant legal qualifications and current practising certificate
• Experience working autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
• Extensive legal expertise in commercial contracting
• Experience within a reputable private practice environment is highly regarded
