Legal Counsel - Asset Management

You will be joining a highly-regarded Australian investment manager as a Legal Counsel with an opportunity for development with complex legal work in a growing legal team in Sydney.

The Role
Reporting to a senior legal leader, this role will provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice across the business, supporting both existing products and new initiatives.

You will work closely with investment, distribution and operations teams and be involved in a wide range of legal and regulatory matters.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Advising on funds management and financial services law matters

  • Supporting new product development and changes to existing structures

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a range of commercial and investment-related agreements

  • Assisting with fund documentation, disclosures and marketing materials

  • Monitoring and advising on regulatory developments impacting the business

  • Supporting governance frameworks and managing legal risk

  • Liaising with external counsel as required

About You

  • 2-3 years’ PQE (up to ~5–6 PQE considered), gained in a top or mid-tier law firm and/or in-house

  • Solid experience in funds management/financial services

  • Strong drafting skills and the ability to deliver clear, commercial advice

  • Admitted in Australia and holding a current practising certificate
