Senior Legal Counsel - Funds Management

You will be joining a multinational independent asset management firm in Sydney as a Senior Legal Counsel to join their growing legal team and with strong relationships with senior stakeholders and executive leadership.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior legal advice on regulatory, governance and compliance matters across financial services and funds-related activities

  • Lead and maintain the organisation’s legal and compliance frameworks, policies and controls

  • Monitor and interpret regulatory developments (ASIC, AUSTRAC, APRA, ASX and related bodies), assessing impact and driving implementation

  • Support board and committee governance, including preparation of papers, reporting and regulatory submissions

  • Oversee company secretarial matters, including statutory registers, entity governance and board documentation

  • Manage and investigate legal or compliance issues, recommending pragmatic and commercially appropriate outcomes

  • Liaise with regulators, auditors and external advisers as required

  • Design and deliver internal training on legal, regulatory and ethical obligations

  • Promote a strong culture of integrity, accountability and risk awareness across the business

About You

  • Australian-qualified lawyer with 7+PQE in funds management

  • Experience engaging with regulators and senior stakeholders, including boards and executive leadership

  • Comfortable operating with autonomy and managing competing priorities in a dynamic business
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to influence at a senior level
