Managing/Senior Legal Counsel

You will be joining a market-leading financial services company as a Senior/Managing Legal Counsel within the established legal team and a focus on regulatory matters within a very flexible, friendly and dynamic working environment in Wollongong.

About the Role

Responsibilities include:

• Lead and manage the incident reporting and remediation framework, ensuring timely and effective resolution of regulatory and operational matters.
• Provide practical legal and regulatory guidance to business teams, senior management, and executives on compliance obligations, operational risk, and complex contractual issues.
• Oversee strategic business initiatives, regulatory change projects, and compliance programs across the organisation.
• Review, negotiate, and approve contracts and agreements to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal policies.
• Mentor and manage a small legal team, fostering a strong culture of compliance and professional development.

About You

You have:

• Qualified solicitor with 7+ years post-qualification experience, ideally in financial services, regulatory law, or litigation.
• Proven experience managing incidents, investigations, and regulatory reporting obligations.
• Strong understanding of compliance frameworks, risk management, and regulatory obligations in financial services.
• Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, able to simplify complex legal issues for non-legal audiences.
• Strategic, proactive, and commercially minded, able to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
