Associate - Defendant Insurance

We are working on a wonderful opportunity for an experienced Solicitor or Associate to join a leading insurance firm, based in Brisbane. You will be working closely with two Partners and part of a wider team, working on and responsible for overseeing a range of interesting defendant insurance files with reputable clients.

This team is made up of highly skilled and dedicated legal professionals who are committed to delivering exceptional results for their clients. They work collaboratively to ensure that every client receives the highest level of service and support throughout their legal journey.

In this role, you will receive ongoing mentoring and development from the Partners, as well as support from the wider team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Managing a diverse range of defendant insurance matters, with a focus on professional indemnity, life insurance claims and public and product liability claims.
• Overseeing a range of commercial litigation matters.
• Advising and communicating directly with clients.
• Preparing court documents, including pleadings, briefs, and motions
• Negotiating settlements, attending conferences, mediations, court and managing court processes.
• Providing guidance and mentorship to junior lawyers and support staff.

About you:

• 3-5 years post-admission experience;
• You will possess either insurance and/or a commercial litigation background;
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with clients and other practitioners;
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team; and
• A keen eye for detail and excellent time-management skills.
