The Australian Government is planning a future high speed rail network to connect Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and regional communities across the east coast of Australia.
National High Speed Rail – Line 1 connects Newcastle to Sydney on a dedicated new railway line with new world-class trains capable of travelling up to 320km/h.
Established as an independent statutory authority of the Australian Government, the High Speed Rail Authority is responsible for providing expert advice, coordinating planning activities and progressing the delivery of National High Speed Rail. This program will connect regional centres and major cities, improving mobility, productivity and long term economic growth while supporting more sustainable transport outcomes.
The Authority works closely with federal, state and territory governments, industry partners, communities and stakeholders.
