Project Director
Sunwater as an owner and operator of bulk water assets in Queensland is a leader in developing and delivering large scale bulk water project throughout Queensland to achieve its purpose – Water for Prosperity. We are seeking an accomplished Project Director to assume responsibility for the Paradise Dam project, based from its Brisbane office.
As the Project Director, you will be entrusted with guiding Sunwater’s large dam infrastructure agenda—empowering you to oversee the project of significant consequence that deliver tangible benefits to communities to the Bundaberg area.
What you bring:
To excel as Project Director – Paradise Dam at Sunwater you will possess an impressive, demonstrated track record in successfully delivering large-scale civil engineering projects within demanding environments. Your background should reflect comprehensive involvement across all dimensions of project management—from strategic planning through execution—supported by formal tertiary qualifications in either Project Management or Engineering.
You are adept at fostering collaboration among multidisciplinary teams whilst also engaging constructively with external stakeholders including community, contractors or regulatory authorities. Your interpersonal strengths enable clear communication even during intricate negotiations or sensitive discussions. You will be used to creating high performance teams and ensuring that the project objectives and benefits are delivered for the asset owner.
Commercially astute yet always guided by ethical principles; you continually seek avenues for process enhancement so immediate objectives are realised without compromising future sustainability.
Key criteria:
- Demonstrated experience as a leader who has successfully delivered large scale projects in a complex environment
- Is a leader of high performing teams, with skill to coach, and mentor substantial project teams
- Capacity for innovative thinking—adaptive to situations while ensuring the core objectives are delivered
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management or Engineering (or equivalent), evidencing technical proficiency pertinent to planning/construction/delivery of bulk water or pipeline infrastructure projects.
- 20 years’ experience managing complex major civil infrastructure projects from inception through completion; at least 10 years leading high-performing teams responsible for planning/resource management/risk/capability development.
- Registration as Certified Practising Project Manager (or evidence of substantive progress towards achieving this credential) is highly regarded.
- Extensive experience overseeing commercial aspects such as cost forecasting/reporting/contract administration on projects exceeding $2 Billion in value.
- Demonstrated experience with collaborative contracting models is highly advantageous
