Senior Estimating Manager

About the Company: Our client, a major player in Australia’s linear infrastructure sector, has exclusively engaged us to appoint a Senior Estimating Manager. This is an exceptional opportunity to step into a newly created role that will lead and elevate the estimating capability across a diverse major projects portfolio.

As Senior Estimating Manager, you will provide the strategic leadership necessary to build a high-performing estimating function that underpins confident investment decisions and project success nationwide.

About the Role:

• Lead the development and delivery of detailed, accurate cost estimates across all phases of project development and construction.
• Drive estimation assurance through structured reviews, robust governance processes, and clear executive reporting.
• Apply agile estimating approaches to support evolving designs, scopes, and delivery strategies.
• Partner with development, engineering, finance, operations, and commercial leaders to shape estimating and contracting strategies that strengthen competitive positioning.
• Oversee supplier and contractor evaluation through benchmarking, pricing analysis, and performance based insights.
• Ensure estimating outputs support procurement, negotiation, value for money outcomes, and commercial leverage.
• Establish and maintain cost baselines, variation controls, and claims defence strategies.
• Develop systems and processes to enhance cost intelligence and data utilisation across the organisation.
• Integrate estimating outputs with commercial frameworks to strengthen budgeting, forecasting, and investment governance.

About You:

• 15+ years’ Tier 1 estimating experience within contractor or asset owner environments.
• A broad project background across linear infrastructure (eg. water, gas, power etc.) with deep insight into market cost drivers.
• Proven ability to embed estimating intelligence into contracting strategies and collaborate effectively with commercial, risk, finance, and delivery teams.
• Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence senior leaders.
• Demonstrated leadership of teams 8+ in size, including talent development and building high performing capability.
