Queensland’s racing industry makes a substantial contribution to the State’s economy and is a significant employer of tens-of-thousands of Queenslanders. The industry also plays an important role in galvanising communities, particularly in rural and regional areas, as people come together to celebrate the iconic sport of racing.
Racing Queensland (RQ) is a statutory body established under the Racing Act 2002. Its primary purpose is to promote, enhance and provide a platform to service the industry across three codes of racing: Thoroughbred, Greyhound and Harness.
RQ’s vision is to connect people through the thrill of racing, and its mission is to be Queensland’s favourite sport and Australia’s best sporting jurisdiction. The Development and Construction department bring that vision to life through the formulation and implementation of targeted strategies to commercialise the development opportunities across the portfolio of land assets through master planning, feasibility analysis and delivery methodologies.
Reporting to the General Manager Development and Construction, RQ is seeking a Senior Development Manager with minimum 10 years private sector experience in the master planning and delivery of mixed projects. The Senior Development Manager will focus on the key racing clubs on the east coast and in major capital cities in Queensland, to assess the commercial development opportunities taking into consideration the individual clubs key business drivers, and the regional economic conditions.
The Success Profile
The Senior Development Manager will be a resilient, results-oriented manager with demonstrated experience in formulating, managing and delivering masterplanned mixed use projects. You will be highly effective at providing expert advice, support and guidance across all stakeholder engagement touchpoints.
You will have a relevant tertiary qualification in engineering, property or construction and a track record of clearly articulating and implementing strategies to quickly solve unpredictable problems. You will build trust and credibility with all stakeholder groups and demonstrate superior interpersonal skills to build effective relationships aligned to RQ’s strategic objectives.
You are highly experienced in a politically complex and dynamic environment with demonstrable experience in delivering outcomes within tight timeframes.
This role affords the scope to realise the significant professional uplift of working for a tri-code PRA. We recruit values-aligned people into Racing Queensland who lead by example and thrive on delivering results in a fast-paced, high performance culture.
