The new Department of Environment & Science (DES) unifies Queensland’s Environment, Heritage Protection, National Parks, Science and Arts portfolios. DES now has a shared purpose to address some of the state’s most challenging & complex issues, while embracing innovation, collaboration and scientific excellence at its core.
As part of the new organisational structure, DES is looking for an experienced Executive Director to lead the Office of Resource Recovery, providing strategic leadership for Waste Avoidance & Recovery Policy, Programs and Services.
Reporting to the Deputy Director-General (DDG), Environmental Policy & Programs, you will be responsible for the strategy, delivery and assurance of circa $1.3 Billion of revenue generated from the Waste Levy over forward estimates.
- Provide leadership and oversight of complex policy and project work program, ensuring timely outputs in accordance with Ministerial and Cabinet timeframes
- Lead the operations of the Queensland Waste Disposal Levy, coordinating within and across the department, public sector, community and industry to support the department’s service delivery priorities
- Develop and nurture alliances with key partners and industry executives including Ministers, LCEOs, LCEOs, peak bodies, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander leaders and other relevant senior executives
- Provide expert strategic advice to the Minister, Director-General, DDG and other key executive stakeholders
To be considered for the role, you will have demonstrated executive leadership capability in policy and program development and implementation within a regulatory environment.
You will have extensive stakeholder relationship management experience, particularly across diverse groups with varying priorities, and be able to foster a culture of collaboration among all teams and stakeholders.
