An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full-time Procurement Specialist based in Sydney. This role offers the chance to develop, implement, and execute procurement processes and strategies to optimise and continually improve the performance of the Procurement function. The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering strategic initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and providing commercial advice.


What you'll do:


As a Procurement Specialist, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing procurement processes and strategies. Your excellent relationship management skills will be utilised as you manage both supplier and internal stakeholder relationships. You will be responsible for ensuring that all buying activities are carried out effectively. Your input will be crucial in supporting Strategic Sourcing through the development and review of category strategies. You will also be accountable for executing these strategies. Your role will involve measuring supplier performance on various parameters such as delivery, quality, capacity, cost etc. Additionally, your expertise will be sought for providing commercial advice to assist internal teams with supplier and contract management.

  • Manage supplier and internal stakeholder relationships and establish appropriate communication channels.
  • Ensure buying activities are performed including order placement, maintaining procurement data, non-compliance management, inventory management, forecasting reporting, stock take and budget activities.
  • Support Strategic Sourcing by providing all relevant inputs for the development, ratification, and periodic review of category strategies.
  • Execute the category strategy.
  • Measure supplier performance including delivery, quality, capacity, cost etc.
  • Provide commercial advice and related considerations to assist internal teams in relation to supplier and contract management.


What you bring:


The ideal candidate for this Procurement Specialist role brings a wealth of experience from a commercial environment. Your demonstrated procurement experience will include aspects of project service delivery, technology or supplier management. You possess an astute ability to assess the capability of suppliers and commercial proposals. Your strong negotiation skills have been honed through previous roles where you've successfully managed suppliers and negotiated contracts. A sound understanding of supplier contracts is essential for this role. You're able to work both autonomously and as part of a team. Your strong communication skills enable you to build positive stakeholder relationships. You're adept at quickly resolving daily challenges and have knowledge of quality and regulatory systems for medical device companies.

  • Proven procurement experience in a commercial environment incorporating project service delivery, technology or supplier management.
  • Ability to assess the capability of suppliers and commercial proposals.
  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record in supplier management and contract negotiations.
  • Sound understanding of supplier contracts.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive stakeholder relationships.
  • Ability to quickly resolve daily challenges.
  • Knowledge of quality and regulatory systems for medical device companies.
