This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the strategic direction of procurement within a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering a coordinated approach to procurement, category management, and stakeholder engagement. This role comes with an attractive salary package ranging from $160,000 to $170,000, based in Brisbane.

  • Lead and deliver strategic procurement projects
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to ensure quality and cost-effectiveness
  • Develop and implement sourcing & procurement strategic plans


What you'll do:

As a Senior Category Manager - CAPEX, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of procurement within the organisation. You will lead strategic sourcing events with the primary objective of reducing costs, leveraging scale, building a competitive advantage, and reinforcing commitment to cost management. Your ability to develop collaborative relationships with suppliers will be crucial in ensuring additional value is produced. You will also provide specialist procurement expertise as necessary in addition to commercial rigour, advanced sourcing techniques, and bench marking.

  • Lead and coordinate strategic sourcing events aimed at reducing costs and leveraging scale
  • Work closely with the Procurement Operations team to align best practice approaches to sourcing and supplier management
  • Identify and collaborate with key stakeholders, internal customers, and suppliers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency
  • Develop the procurement strategy for strategic contracts within Claims
  • Provide specialist procurement expertise as necessary in addition to commercial rigour, advanced sourcing techniques, and bench marking
  • Negotiate and execute extensions, variations, and terminations of major legal instruments to meet business needs
  • Resolve strategic contract supplier disputes
  • Support key stakeholders in raising awareness and education across Claims on Procurement expertise, policies, and procedures


What you bring:

The ideal candidate for the Senior Category Manager - CAPEX role brings a wealth of experience in procurement along with strong negotiation skills. You have a proven track record of achieving tangible commercial results and delivering quality outputs within tight time frames. Your experience in large organisations with complex environments will be invaluable in this role. You are also expected to have strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage a team and work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

  • Tertiary education with a focus on Procurement & Supply Chain or an Information Technology, Legal, Business or Commerce related degree
  • 10+ year's experience in procurement
  • Experience in Claims (Insurance) procurement is desirable
  • Experience in managing a team is desirable
  • Experience in large organisations with complex environments
  • Experienced in achieving tangible commercial results
  • Experience in delivering quality outputs within tight time frames within a standardised project management framework
  • Strong negotiation skills demonstrated across a range of supplier, commercial and internal stakeholder management contexts
