Category Manager

Our client in the education sector is seeking a highly skilled Category Manager to join their team an initial 3 month contract. This role offers an exciting opportunity to partner with stakeholders in a range of categories, planning, developing, sourcing and managing procurement arrangements to effectively meet organisational and business objectives. The successful candidate will be rewarded with a competitive salary of 60-80ph and the chance to work in the vibrant location of SOR Perth.

What you'll do:

  • Contribute to the development and implementation of category management plans and strategies
  • Analyse business needs, commercial risks and supply markets to inform category planning and sourcing
  • Develop, co-ordinate and lead sourcing activities across a range of categories
  • Provide governance, advice and guidance to internal stakeholders
  • Develop and administer contract management plans, negotiate changes and modifications
  • Plan and lead contract negotiations in the establishment and review of supply arrangements
  • Identify, manage and mitigate procurement risks
  • Document procurement processes, decisions and contractual arrangements

What you bring:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or extensive management experience in procurement management
  • Experience in managing strategic sourcing activities for corporate professional services, human resources, logistics and storage, marketing and media, office related supplies and services, travel & entertainment.
  • Ability to develop robust detailed spend models including Total Cost of Ownership, risk modelling
  • Strong knowledge of market environment for categories
  • Ability to lead negotiations delivering value for money and reduced risk
  • Ability to develop risk mitigation strategies for complex procurement arrangements.
  • People management skills with the ability to coach staff
