Head of Sourcing - Capital Works & Refurbishments

Save job

Robert Walters is proud to be partnering with Australian Venue Co (AVC) on their search for a Head of Sourcing in Melbourne.

AVC is building a dedicated Sourcing & Commercial capability to leverage portfolio scale across brownfields capital works (renewals and refurbishments) and to support the R&M team through repeatable and configurable category solutions.

This is a newly created role and will suit a hands-on strategic procurement leader who can establish the operating model, design commercial frameworks, and lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives across both onshore and offshore supply chains, then scale capability and build a team as the program grows.

About Australian Venue Co (AVC)

Australian Venue Co (AVC) is one of Australia and New Zealand’s largest hospitality groups, operating 200+ venues across both countries. AVC is proudly local-first: each venue is shaped by the community it serves, with distinctive concepts and individual identities, supported by specialist capability and scale from a centralised head office.

Across the portfolio, AVC is focused on breathing new life into venues—reinvesting in refurbishments and renewals, supported by innovation and technology to improve venue performance and deliver better guest experiences.

AVC employs more than 10,000 team members and operates across Australia and New Zealand, with New Zealand Venue Co as the subdivision for venues in New Zealand.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop category strategies and sourcing roadmaps aligned to AVC’s brownfields pipeline and R&M demand.
  • Categories included, but not limited to, are joinery/millwork packages, kitchen & bar equipment, lighting, FF&E & loose furniture packages, audio-visual packages, fixtures & fittings and more.
  • Lead end-to-end sourcing events, including market engagement onshore and offshore, tender documentation, commercial evaluation, negotiation, and supplier award.
  • Lead commercial negotiations to secure best-value outcomes across price, lead time, quality, warranty, and lifecycle cost.
  • Build and manage commercial frameworks: MSAs, supply and service agreements, call-off terms, warranty/remedy terms, SLAs, and pricing mechanisms.
  • Reduce risk exposure through contract discipline, clear deliverables, and robust variation/change control principles.
  • Develop governance frameworks covering Incoterms®, payment terms, quality checkpoints, logistics coordination through to site or storage facilities.
  • Establish a preferred supplier model for nominated categories (pre-qualified suppliers, agreed terms, simple call-off processes).
  • Implement supplier onboarding, due diligence, and performance management (quality, delivery, defects, warranty response, service levels).
  • Embed ethical sourcing and compliance expectations (including modern slavery due diligence where applicable).
  • Partner with Legal and Finance teams to ensure compliance with ESG standards and regulatory requirements.

About you:

  • Tertiary qualifications in procurement, supply chain or another relevant field
  • 10+ years of experience across procurement & supply chain, with a focus on the construction & FM industries
  • Experience, designing, scaling out and leading end-to-end sourcing initiatives across both onshore and offshore supply chains
  • Experience working within the hospitality industry.
  • Excellent communication, engagement & negotiating skills.
