Business Analyst - Payroll

* Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst with end-to-end SDLC implementation of a Payroll Systems such as Oracle or SAP or other similar/equivalent product suite * In-depth domain knowledge of the Payroll and Finance functions in the education sector * Knowledge of various ERP modules such as Financial, Payroll (ECP)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst with deep Payroll and Finance expertise to play a key role in a large-scale ERP transformation program within the education sector. This is an end-to-end delivery role, partnering closely with business stakeholders, implementation partners, and technical teams to ensure Payroll and Finance solutions are fit-for-purpose, compliant, and future-ready.

The Role

As a Senior Business Analyst, you will act as the functional bridge between business and technology, owning the translation of complex Payroll and Finance requirements into clear, actionable functional and technical specifications. You will be hands-on across the full SDLC, from discovery through to implementation, testing, and change enablement.

You will bring strong Payroll domain expertise and contribute directly to the successful configuration and delivery of ERP Payroll solutions (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent), ensuring outcomes align with business needs, regulatory obligations, and best practice.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand needs and translate them into high-quality functional and technical specifications

• Provide functional Payroll and Finance expertise to support ERP configuration and solution design

• Work closely with the implementation partner to configure Payroll modules in line with business requirements

• Facilitate workshops, one-on-one interviews, and process mapping sessions to capture and validate requirements

• Develop detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and supporting artefacts within an Agile delivery environment

• Lead and coordinate business functional testing and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure solutions meet agreed requirements

• Perform solution validation to confirm build quality against approved designs

• Support change management activities, including training enablement and post-implementation support

• Collaborate with data migration teams to map legacy data to SAP ERP systems

• Support integration teams by identifying system touchpoints, data sets, and ensuring end-to-end traceability

• Conduct thorough analysis of Payroll and Finance processes, systems, and data flows

• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and compliance

• Ensure solutions align with regulatory requirements and organisational policies

• Proactively identify delivery risks and work collaboratively to define and implement mitigation strategies

• Develop and maintain clear, comprehensive business process documentation

• Act as a key communication link between technical and non-technical stakeholders
  
  

About You

You are a confident, delivery-focused Senior Business Analyst who thrives in complex transformation environments and brings strong Payroll domain knowledge.

You will bring:

• Proven experience as a Senior Business Analyst delivering end-to-end Payroll system implementations

• Hands-on experience with ERP Payroll solutions such as SAP (ECP), Oracle, or equivalent platforms

• Strong domain knowledge across Payroll and Finance functions, ideally within the education sector

• Experience working with ERP Financial and Payroll modules

• Advanced skills in As-Is / To-Be process mapping, requirements analysis, and solution design

• Strong data analysis skills, including data mapping and reporting

• Experience working with cloud-based ERP platforms and modern delivery models

• Strong knowledge of Agile methodologies, including user stories, backlog management, and sprint planning

• Excellent documentation skills across the full project lifecycle

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capability

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders
