Cyber Security Consultant | MSSP | Pre-Sales & Advisory | Syd
An experienced Cyber Security Consultant is needed to join a leading Sydney MSSP. Client-facing 12-month FTC in a team of four, covering pre-sales, advisory and solution delivery across SIEM, EDR and GRC. Ideal for a senior consultant or vendor professional ready to step into a high-impact advisory role.
The Opportunity:
This is a role for someone who can do both sides of the equation: walk into a room, understand what a customer actually needs, scope and sell the solution, and then back it up with solid technical delivery. You’ll be working closely with a Cyber Security Consulting Lead across pre-sales, advisory and solution design, with real input into how the practice grows.
The team has a clear gap on the pre-sales and advisory side, so candidates who can confidently scope, architect and present security solutions to senior stakeholders will stand out immediately. Post-vendor backgrounds are highly regarded here.
What you'll do:
- Drive pre-sales activity including technical qualification, scoping, estimation and solution design for new and existing opportunities
- Provide strategic cyber security advisory to enterprise, corporate and government customers
- Consult across a broad range of security domains including SIEM, GRC, EDR, NGFWs, vulnerability management, DFIR and more
- Develop technical documentation including tender and RFP responses, high-level designs and architecture artefacts
- Build trusted advisor relationships within key customer accounts and act as an escalation point when needed
- Collaborate with the Product & Technology team to shape Our Client’s cyber security roadmap
- Capture and share best-practice knowledge across the technical community
What you bring:
- At least 5 years’ experience across a broad range of technology disciplines (systems, infrastructure, cloud, SaaS)
- Minimum 3 years within a cyber security related discipline
- Demonstrated experience in customer-facing consulting or pre-sales with the presence to engage senior technical and business stakeholders
- Subject matter expertise across at least five of: SIEM & log correlation, EDR/anti-malware, GRC & compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, ISM, PCI-DSS), NGFW/WAF, DFIR, email/web gateways/CASB, patch & vulnerability management, intrusion detection
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce high-quality technical and commercial documentation
- Working knowledge of frameworks including NIST, ISO, ASD ISM and PCI-DSS
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or a related field (or equivalent experience)
Highly regarded:
- Background in vendorland (e.g. Palo Alto, Splunk, Zscaler, Rapid7, CrowdStrike, Microsoft) transitioning into consulting
- Experience working for an MSSP, MSP, System Integrator or multi-client consultancy
- CISSP, CISM, CRISC or equivalent certifications
- Vendor certifications across key platforms
- Experience with risk management and risk assessment methodologies
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples are encouraged to apply.
