We are currently looking for a Data Analyst to join a leading corporate commercial firm in Brisbane, where your expertise will directly influence business decision-making and drive organisational success. This role is perfect for someone who thrives on transforming complex data into clear, actionable insights and enjoys collaborating across departments to deliver robust reporting and analytics solutions.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards and comprehensive reports using Power BI or SSRS to empower informed business decisions across multiple departments.
  • Build and manage semantic models as well as self-service reporting layers to ensure stakeholders have access to reliable single sources of truth for their data needs.
  • Translate intricate business requirements into practical reporting and analytics solutions that provide clarity and drive value for diverse teams.
  • Develop and sustain end-to-end data pipelines by integrating information from various systems through SQL queries, ETL processes such as SSIS, or APIs.
  • Architect and oversee data warehouse structures tailored to meet evolving analytical and reporting demands within the organisation.
  • Implement robust data quality frameworks that uphold integrity and governance standards across all datasets utilised by the business.
  • Create financial and operational models encompassing forecasting, budgeting, and risk analysis to support strategic planning initiatives.
  • Conduct technical analyses of system integrations, monitor data flows, and assess performance metrics to optimise efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with business teams to identify new opportunities for enhancing reporting capabilities and driving ongoing improvements in analytics.
  • Present insightful recommendations to senior stakeholders in accessible formats that facilitate understanding regardless of technical background.

The ideal candidate

  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Business or Finance demonstrating foundational knowledge essential for advanced analytics work.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL (Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle) enabling you to perform complex querying and manipulate large datasets efficiently.
  • Expertise in at least one major business intelligence or visualisation platform such as Power BI, Tableau or SSRS allowing you to create impactful reports.
  • Hands-on experience with ETL/data integration tools like SSIS or Azure Data Factory supporting seamless movement of data between systems.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Excel skills including advanced formulas, pivot tables, macros or VBA which underpin detailed analysis tasks.
  • A minimum of five years’ experience in technical data analyst roles where you have built and maintained multi-source reporting environments.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail ensuring accuracy in all outputs produced for stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication abilities enabling you to explain complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences alike.
  • Proven capacity to work both independently when required as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams managing competing priorities effectively.
