Reporting to the Network and Data Centre Lead, the Senior Network & Data Centre Engineer plays a critical role in shaping and securing AAL’s IT and OT infrastructure and maintaining resilient infrastructure that underpins AAL’s digital operations. With end-to-end ownership of core network and data centre services, this role leads key infrastructure projects, optimise performance, enhance security posture, and ensure high availability across both IT and OT environments.
Key responsibilities:
- Lead the design and deployment of network and data centre solutions aligned with digital transformation goals, ensuring resilience, security, and performance.
- Oversee the maintenance, monitoring, and optimisation of network infrastructure, data centres, and associated systems to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions to minimise disruptions.
- Act as a technical lead on infrastructure projects, including upgrades, new system deployments, integrations, and remediation activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation of network topology, configurations, operational procedures, and contribute to the development of standards and policies for infrastructure management.
- Identify potential risks or vulnerabilities within IT/OT systems and develop strategies to mitigate or remediate them effectively.
- Participate in risk assessments, capacity planning, disaster recovery planning, and other governance-related activities to enhance infrastructure resilience.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align infrastructure solutions with broader business needs and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity frameworks, regulatory requirements, and best practices across IT and OT environments.
- Provide mentoring and technical guidance to junior engineers while fostering a culture of continuous learning and capability development.
Key requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or Computer Science (or equivalent experience).
- Extensive experience in network architecture (routing / switching / firewalls / VPNs / WAN / LAN).
- Deep understanding of data centre infrastructure including virtualisation / storage / backup / power management.
- Proven track record delivering infrastructure projects with emerging technologies (e.g., SD-WAN/Zero Trust/hybrid cloud).
- Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles applied to infrastructure management.
- Able to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identity Card (ASIC).
