Azure Cloud Engineer - $140K pa + super
A distinguished higher education institution is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to assume a central role in its ambitious digital transformation agenda. This is a hands-on technical delivery role, paying $140K plus super in a permanent position. We are looking for someone with strong experience across Azure, Terraform and AKS.
What you'll do:
In this role, you will:
- Lead the deployment and operation of Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, and monitoring services.
- Support hybrid cloud integrations, including Azure AD Connect and VPN configurations.
- Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform
- Containerisation (AKS)
- Optimise workloads for performance, cost efficiency, and availability.
- Develop automation using PowerShell or Python.
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls and documentation.
- Collaborate with multiple teams to deliver reliable and scalable cloud services.
- Contribute to backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity processes.
About You
You will be successful in this role if you have:Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field.
- 5+ years in Azure cloud engineering
- Hands-on experience deploying and managing Azure services in production.
- Strong IaC experience (Terraform)
- Strong Containerisation experience (AKS)
- Experience with hybrid identity (AD, Azure AD, federation).
- Advanced scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python).
- Azure certifications highly regarded.
- Deep understanding of core Azure services (VMs, Storage, Networking, Azure Monitor, Azure AD).
- Strong problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment.
- Passion for continuous improvement and innovation.
