Optical Network Engineer
Join a high‑performance engineering team delivering large‑scale DWDM and optical network programs. This 12‑month contract includes software upgrades, legacy device decommissioning, network changes, and operational support in a 24/7 environment. Ideal for an experienced optical engineer seeking hands‑on work with complex networks and modern DWDM platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute software upgrades across a large fleet of optical transport devices
- Perform manual upgrade work where automated tooling cannot reach
- Validate optical device and service health pre‑ and post‑change
- Support device decommissioning and migration programs
- Carry out optical troubleshooting using established operational processes
- Collaborate with planning and automation teams on readiness and execution
- Document procedures, outcomes, and exceptions
- Participate in an on‑call rotation for network incidents and service restoration
Required Experience & Skills
- 5–8+ years’ hands‑on experience in DWDM/optical networking
- Proven experience operating large‑scale optical transport systems

Scripting or automation experience (Python, Bash, Shell, Perl)
- Strong understanding of coherent optics, optical power levels, OSNR, BER, OTN, etc.
- Ability to interpret optical performance metrics and operate optical test equipment (OSA, OTDR, power meters)
- Experience supporting 24/7 production networks with on‑call responsibilities
- Solid understanding of change management in high‑availability environments
- Strong communication, documentation, and cross‑team collaboration skills
