Senior Full Stack Developer

You will lead the design and delivery of both backend and frontend services for a cloud-hosted SaMD platform. You will take end-to-end ownership of API design, data modelling, AWS infrastructure integration, security, and operational reliability, while also contributing to the React web application where required. You will work closely with product, AI/ML, and clinical stakeholders to translate requirements into testable software that meets the standards regulated medical product.

Purpose of the Role

Based in the client’s West Perth office we are seeking a full time Senior Full Stack Developer to lead the design and delivery of both backend and frontend services for a cloud-hosted SaMD platform. You will take end-to-end ownership of API design, data modelling, AWS infrastructure integration, security, and operational reliability, while also contributing to the React web application where required.

You will work closely with product, AI/ML, and clinical stakeholders to translate requirements into robust, testable software that meets the quality and privacy standards expected of a regulated medical product.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Leads the backend technical approach for features from design through release, Including production delivery and monitoring
  • Mentor engineers through pairing, code reviews, design reviews, and raising the team’s engineering standards
  • Design and implement secure, versioned REST APIs and associated domain/data models to support company suite of applications
  • Improve performance and reliability of Artrya's applications, including AWS services and workflows
  • Implements automated testing at multiple levels, with strong focus on maintainability
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines and Terraform infrastructure-as-code to enable repeatable, auditable deployments
  • Contribute to the React/TypeScript web app, especially API integration points and end-to-end feature delivery
  • Manages problems and issues in development and be able to escalate problems to seek solutions
  • Implements technical documentation for designs, runbooks, solution builds, configuration data and operational support
  • Contributes to other strategies and activities as required to ensure the company achieves its objectives

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience working in professional software development, with meaningful ownership of production systems
  • Strong backend engineering experience in Python (Django) building REST APIs
  • Strong experience designing, building, and operating production systems on AWS
  • Deep understanding of PostgreSQL data modelling, migrations, query optimisation, and transactional integrity
  • Experience with Web API and RESTful web services
  • Experience with React JS front end development and NodeJS
  • Experience with Web Application Security
  • Knowledge of image processing or 3D modelling applications is advantageous
  • Knowledge of AWS services and serverless technologies – Lamba, DynamoDB, Fargate, S3, API Gateway, Step Functions, EC2, RDS, Cloudfront
  • Strong problem-solving skills
